Create a PDF/X-compliant file

The contents of PDF/X-compliant files meet the requirements for prepress use. PDF/X-1a files allow CMYK and spot colors only. PDF/X-3 files also allow device-independent colors.

You can validate PDF content using PDF/X criteria, and then save the Adobe PDF file in PDF/X format using the Acrobat Preflight feature. You can also create PDF/X-compliant files using Acrobat Distiller.
